Before even daring to engage in this wheel of despair (despite the glamour factor and it is easy and fun to play), one must first understand, like any other games, that formulating a fool-proof (so they say) strategy is important. Going in solely depending on Mother Luck would be an exercise in futility.
There are several tips and strategies, albeit simple ones, that could make all of the difference; you either come up the winner, or find yourself doing lap dances to pay off debts.

After purchasing your chips, (different colored for each player) Start betting on the desired number and make as many bets you heart desires. Remember that even though the number you want has already been covered by another player, you can still place bets; the different colored chips will alert the dealer which belongs to who.
In American Roulette; for an outside bet, for a ‘0’ and ‘00’ will not cause you to pull your hair-plugs out, instead you will only lose half your bet.

Always remember that in American Roulette, the addition of a secondary 0 pocket rendered in Green does, sadly, dictates an effect for the House. Having 38 numbers in total, inclusive of the 0 and 00, these green pockets will not give winnings for outside bets. Usually, only Braveheart and Alexander the Great would not blink an eye to such odds.
One other age old tip and strategy is no never place bets on 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3 bacause the House has an incredible of almost 8% advantage. You do this, and more often than not, the House will wipe you clean, and give you your bus fare home. If you are in Vegas and live on the East Coast, good luck my friend.
Always, and always, watch your numbers like a hawk in heat. A number which repeats 100 or so could indicate that the wheel is biased. Presumably, however, this can be to your advantage. Use your ‘gut’ instincts – you may just get lucky.
Master the game thoroughly. Watch what others do, especially the more experienced ones. Then slowly incorporate their strategies into your own style of playing.
One last strategy and tip – purchase your colored chips firs and then only exchange for regular casino chips when you are done playing.
